Activities
of Academy
In order to popularize and provide training in Classical
music Ustad Alauddin Khan Music and Art Academy, Music
section, Bhopal has entered 25th year of its existence
since its establishment. Since last many years music
section is exutted with its activitier and achievements.
In regular programs of music section-"Alauddin
Khan Vyakhayan mala", "Utteradhikar",
"Gunghroo", "Durlabh Vadya Vinod",
"Dhrupad Festival", "Chakradhar Festival",
" Kumar Gandharva Festival-Dances","Ameer
Khan Festival- Indore", "Alauddin Khan Festival-mehar"
are successfully organised.
ALAUDDIN
KHAN FESTIVAL- in the memory of distinguished
personality of this century Padmavibhushan late ustad
Alauddin Khan, every year Acadamy organises, Alauddin
Khan Festival in Maihar(Satna) since 1979-80 this
Festival is organized continuously, In this festival
numerous popular and young artists of state and national
level have taken part and paid their homage to Baba
Alauddin Khan. This festival of academy is very honourable
festival at national level.
KUMAR GANDHARVA FESTIVAL- In memory of great musician
late Pandit Kumar Gandharve academy organises Kumar
Gamdharve festival since 1992-93 in Dewas every year.
In this festival many young and famous artists of
the nation have exhibited their art. Famous at national
level academy organized this festival a few years
back on the 75th birthday of Kumar Gandharva in form
of episodes in different cities and was very successful
. This festival of academy is very honourable festival
at national level.
AMEER KHAN FESTIVAL - In the memory of late
musician ustad Ameer Khan academy organises Ameer
Khan festival every year in Indore since 1987-88.
This is a very honoured festival in the world of art,
in which till now many respected artists of state
and nation have participated. This festival holds
a great importance in Malva region.
ALAUDDIN
KHAN VYAKHAN MALA- with the view to develop the
interest and appriciation of people in Classical music
and dance academy is arganizing since1983-84 Alauddin
Khan Vyakhan Mala every year in this music experts
give the interpretation on any one particular topic
which is very beneficial for common people , music
covers and students. About 16-17times it has been
arganized. The interpretations which have been given
in this vyakhan Mala have been stored by Acadeny in
a book named "Sangeet Ras Parampara aur Vichar".this
book has been published and is very popular among
music lovers. It is a book which needs to be protected
and preserved.
GUNGHROO-
In order to provide platform to young and talented
artists of different styles of Classical dance Academy
has arganised Gunghroo Festival. This festival is
on since 1984. This programme since last few years
is been arganised every year in one of the cities
successfully. This is a very unusual festival on defferent
styles of classtcal dances of India.
UTTARADHIKAR-In order to provide special type
of encouragement to young artists in the field of
classical music Academy provides platform to them.
This programme was started in 1985-86. In this most
of the young talents of state and nation have participated.
In the initial years it was arganised in Bhopal and
after that it is arganised in different cities of
the state.
DURLABH
VADYA VINOD-There are many such classical instruments
whose possibilities of music capacity and creativity
are numorous but then too they are not in much trend
amomg the music lovers of these some instruments are
diffiecult to practice and their followers are very
rare. In order to provide platform to those who would
practice them this festival is organized. This programme
was started in 1980-81 in which many famous artists
of the country have taken part.
ART
SECTION
TANSEN
SANGEET FESTIVAL, GWALIOR- Tansen sangeet festival
is an important convention of musical programmes.
It has completed 79 years of its existence. In the
memory of music maestrs Tansen it is organized each
year in Gwalior. It is one of the programmes of our
country which is popular at the international level.
In the festival artists are chosen by a committee
of specialists.
KHAJURAHO DANCE FESTIVAL-
Khajuraho Dance festival
is around three decades old. It is organized between
25 February to 3rd March every year. Dancers are selected
by a committee of famous experts.
DRAMA
ACTIVITIES- In Acadamy the activities of drama
have increased in last two decades. A partf rom Rashtriya
natya festival and Madhya Pradesh natya festival to
provide encouragement to . other drama groups of the
state and Regional drama workshops have been organized.
FILM ACTIVITIES- Under Film Festival Academy show,
Art Films from time to time with the cooperation of
Bal Chitra Samiti-Mumbai , School education department
and administration of different districts Academy
has started "Madhya Pradesh Children Film Festival"
for school children. In this festival every year eight
lakh school children watch films.
PAINTING
ACTIVITIES- Academy organizes workshops for young
painter and senior painters of the state and llfex
in collaboration with Delhi organises painting exhibitions
at the state level. Along with the "Madhya Pradesh
Painting exhibition"is also organized. There
is one "Kala Vithika with Academy which is provides
to other artists on nominal rent. Most of the times
exhibition is organized here.
RAZA AWARDS- Born in Madhya Pradesh and settled
in Paris world famous painter Sued Haider Raza has
contributed to Academy from his personal account Rs.
1.50Lakh, from its interest each year one young poet
and one young painter is given Raza Award. And along
with it Raza exhibition is also organized.
SPECIAL
One
unit of Ustad Alauddin Khan Music and Art Academy
is working in Gwalior which is known as "Tansen
Kala Vithika". Through this unit numerous programmes
are arranged each year.
Academy has one more small "Kala Vithika"
along with its own "Kala Vithika" which
is given on rent. Along with this two open stages
which are situated in Academy premises are given to
drama groups and associations for rehearsel and drama
exhibition.
TRAINING
Under Music department Tikamgarh's Dhrupad center
and Bhopal's Chakradhar Dance center are working in
accordance to teacher student relations. Ancient singing
style Dhrupad and north Indian Dance Kathak's training
is provided. At present Dhrupad center and Chakradhar
dance center Bhopal are providing scholarship to 8-8
students respectively and by scholarship of sir Ratan
Tata Trust , Mumbai 10-10 students are getting training
of Dhrupad singing and Katha . Along with this in
Dhrupad center, Tikamgarh 3 students are getting scholarship
from music department for their training. Similarly
like this young talents are given scholarship to learn
rare music style and rare instruments. Earlier students
were given training only in 'sarangi' and 'Pakhavaj'
but now with the grant given by sir Ratan Tata Trust,
Mumbai under this plan they are given training even
of rare musical instruments like -Sur Singar, Vichitra
Veena, Lateef Sarangi. Sundari, Surbhar etc.
In this respect in last few years Music department
is organizing workshops for talented students of tribal
regions.
