As varied is the natural beauty of Madhya Pradesh so is its art
and culture. Madhya Pradesh is a cauldron of diverse cultures as it
has been home to Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, Muslims and various
tribes. Virtually all races and phases have left an indelible mark
in the form of temples, stupas, palaces etc. all over the state. |

Bhimbedtka is the biggest repository of prehistoric art in India.
The earliest known human life is said to have taken shelter under
the rocks of Bhimbedtka. Man adorned his rock-shelter with colour
depicting his various emotions. Numerous cave-paintings have been
preserved in these natural shelters. It has been classified as a
world-heritage.
The stupa at Sanchi once a seat of Buddhist learning and pilgrimage
stands as a memento to the religious fervour of Ashoka the Great.

Tansen, one of the nine jewels of
Akbar's court lies buried in Gwalior. The tomb of this great
musician has a pristine simplicity and is built in the early Mughal
architectural style.It is a part of Gwalior's cultural heritage.
