Choumasa Magazine
Research
and Publications
The
academy has been publishing Choumasa, a quarterly
magazine centered on folk arts, music, literature
and culture since 1983. The magazine serves as a significant
source of rare materials on the various aspects of
tribal culture and their art forms. These materials
and texts are readily available for researchers, scholars
and student. The main objective of the magazine is
to disperse and propagate these tribal and folk arts
among the masses so as to records a respectable status
to them. It is not aimed at being a source at being
a source of income in any manner. Till date 67 numbers
of the magazine have been published. The published
numbers include the exclusive issues featuring regional
cultures of Madhya Pradesh Special issues on tattoes,
jewellery, folk tales and myths are available. The
magazine is priced at Rs. 20/- The annual subscription
is Rs. 50.
Associated
Pamphlets

The
Publication of folk -centric material on arts in the
form of monographs and pamphlets was started from
the issue number 32 of Choumasa. The main purpose
of such publications is to publish exclusive material
on those styles of arts which require special consideration
and space. These pamphlets deal with the various aspects
of oral traditions in their original dialects and
Hindi translations.
The
academy has published these pamphlets on the folk
songs of Baghelkhand, Bharathari, Gangaur, folk songs
of Malwa ,the Sanskar geet etc.
Exclusive
Publication

The
growing influence of the modern age on the tribal
art forms has been variously discussed in articles
published in Pratyaya, which has been published in
both Hindi and English. In addition to this, Suraaj,
Amar-Sagar Vol. I & II, the famous epic of Chandel
period Aalha Amritasya Narmada Parampara (the folk
painting and art traditions of the tribal people of
M.P. , Pradition of folk education in bundelkhand
published in paripati are some of the titles published

Phaag Sahitya
Phaag,
the oral tradition of folk literature was popularized
through a series of cultural workshop/camps organized
all over the state. Along with the selection of teams
of folk singers, these workshops/ camps hace also
offered opportunities to compile Phaag songs. Approximately,
1000songs fron Bundelkhand,Baghelkhand, Nimad and
Malwa have been published in the book Janoadiya Phaag
Geet. The book entitled Isuri Ka Phaag Sahitya, is
centred on the songs of Isuri, the famous poet of
Bundelkhand.
Regional Literature

Book
published on the tribal traditions and folk cultures
include Bundeli Sanskriti and Sahitya, Bundeli Lok
Sanitya Paramoara Aur Itihas, Bagheli Sanskriti Aur
Sahitya, Nimadi Sanskriti Aur Sahitya, Malwi Samskriti
Aur Sahitya.
Children's
Literature

Kathavarta,
a collection of tribal and folk myths in two volumes
forms lan important part of material published for
children.
Sufi Sahitya

The
Nirguna tradition of Bhakti (devotion) is reflected
in the Sufi songs of Malwa. These have been compiled
and published under the titles of Hazrat Maulana Kamaaluddin
Chishti Aur Unka Yug and Dhar Aur Mandu Ki Sufi Parampara.
Portfolios
and Greeting Cards

Various
regions of tribasl population have established traditions
in floor wall paintings done on the occasions of festivals,
ceremonies and celebrations. The academy has compiled
a large collection of paintings made on such occasions.
Approximately four portfolios and 75 greeting cards
have been published for sale.
