The
academy provides a standard and prestigious platform
for the presentation of various art and craft forms
of scheduled tribes and other tribal people. To accord
them a regular platform for performing arts, the academy
organizes festivals in various of the state. Its most
prestigious festival is Lok Rang, organized on the
Republic Day at Bhopal.Similar festival are held at
Nimad, Maheshwar and at various district headquarters.
Festival
based on singing (oral tradition) are also held on
various occasions. Chief among such festival are Phaag
and Bhakti-Parva (devotional songs).In addition to
the aforementioned activities, the academy supports
cultural festivals organized by the cultural departments,
centers and institutions of the country.
Lok
Rang
Under
the series of cultural integration, the academy has
been organizing a few-day festival from 26 to 30 January
since 1986 to celebrate the Republic Day. Tribal and
folk artists from Madhya Pradesh and other states
of India display their art forms and present their
distinctive performing arts.
National
Ramleela Mela
Commencing
from 1983, the National Ramleela Festival celebrated
for seven days academy has been presenting Ramleela
in its various traditional forms and style.
Nimad
Utsava
Maheshwar,
the renowned city of Devi Ahilya, Situtated on the
banks of the holy river Narmada, is a permanent venue
for the performance of the tribal and folk performing
arts on the Kartik Purnima day every year. It also
organizes semi-classical dance and music programmes
featuring tribal and folk dance are held exclusively
in major tribal places.
Shruti
:Folk Singing : the vocal tradition
Apart
from the various styles of folk singing prevalent
in Nimad,Malwa, Bundelkhand and Baghelkhand, there
are serval style and traditions in folk singing practiced
in the Northern regions of India. Shruti Samaroh,
a festival of folk singing centred on the traditional
style was initiated last year as a regular feature
of annual celebrations. This festival is celebrated
at the district headquarters of the state.
